Richard Holland

Richard has had a life-long interested in art and in 1999 started an A-level art course at Patching Art Centre under the instruction of Liz Wood. Working from sketches and photographs taken on location, Richard transforms these initial ideas into beautiful oil or watercolour paintings. An active member of the Matlock Artist Society, Richard has gained a BA (honours) degree in Art History and has started to develop a style of work based around Derbyshire landscapes. Richard has featured as a contributer in the Derbyshire Inspirations Magazine as well as the Leisure Painter (January and February 2013). His exhibitions include Patchings Art Festival and the RBSA Open 2012.

2013 Course Details

Richard is a visiting Artist to Derbyshire Arts at Pear Tree Farm and runs his painting courses independantely. These courses are booked directly through Richard.

In these workshops Richard will explain the basic concepts of oil painting, including the different ways of (and need for) underpainting. Richard will look at the benifits of colour mixing to create atmosphic paintings and discuss further mediums as a way of enhasing artwork. These workshops will cover a wide range of subject matter and will include an explination on the range of canvases and brushes available to artists today.
