Hugo Grenville

Hugo Grenville is a leading British Romantic painter whose dreamy paintings reveal a spiritual intensity. In their exploration of colour harmony, and in their celebration of pattern making, they peel back layers of feeling. The still lifes and figure subjects are inhabited by everyday objects that provide the inspiration to express the joy of light, colour and shape. In the landscapes the world around us becomes a visual poem that reveals something about how the experience feels, rather than just how it looks.

He is a popular and exhilarating teacher and lecturer. His talks on Colour and Twentieth Century Painting have inspired many, both in the UK and abroad. He teaches an evolving series of courses in spring/autumn from his Suffolk studio and writes regularly on painting for The Artist Magazine. Hugo is represented by major galleries both in America and the UK. Studio visits can be made by arrangement.
